Scam Seller and No Help From Ebay. Even Feedback has been Removed.
I purchased an item that turned out to be a fake. I had it tested, and asked to return it as it was 'mis-advertised' (all correspondence was polite from my side, albeit the seller was rude when asked for a return). After sending back the item in even better packaging than it was sent to me in, Ebay notified me that I had been refunded...
Come to find out, I had only been given a token partial refund, and that Ebay had lied in the email. I contacted customer support but to no effect, as they said now that a refund had been issued there is no investigation to be done. (Issue 1: Fraudulent Misrepresentation, under item 4 of the legal definition).
I naturally left negative feedback. It was polite but negative, (e.g., "item not as advertised, very negative experience"). Ebay has removed the negative feedback. (Issue 2: Seller ratings are bogus and manipulated by Ebay). If there is no means to check the legitimacy of buyer experience with sellers, obviously this is not a merchant (Ebay) that should be trusted.
What can be done about this?

Mentor2 years ago@bwthing Contact customer service on social media and tell the agent that the seller abused their partial refund seller protection privileges. Sellers are only allowed to issue a partial refund if the buyer somehow reduces the value of the item.
The agents on social media are more experienced.
