Scam, and wrongful resolution of eBay money back guarantee.
I fell for a clever scam. On Sept 26, 2025, I paid $399.88 plus shipping for a Canon camera body. The seller, whose name I will not mention in this public forum is now inactive as an eBay user, clearly committed mail fraud. He listed 20 used cameras; I purchased one (Order #02-13639-68313). He provided a FedEx tracking number, and while it showed delivery to my post office (not to my PO box, since FedEx just drops it off at the post office) but the post office had no package for me. FedEx informed me that the tracking number was not linked to my name or address. At that point, the seller had 100% negative feedback from buyers reporting the same scam, no one received a camera. It appears that he put a package (probably an empty box) in the mail (probably john Doe PO box ____, a few digits off form mine) to create the illusion that it was delivered to me. I filed a Money Back Guarantee claim, but it was denied because the tracking showed “delivered.†eBay apparently did not verify the delivery with FedEx. My appeal was also denied for the same reason. eBay is obviously not really investigating this. Do I have any recourse?
