Scam?
I had a buyer offer me an amount for an item. It was far above what my starting bid is. They contacted me several hours later through eBay. They had included a picture of a hand written note. They asked me to contact them at the number written on the piece of paper in the picture. They assured me they would pay for the item as soon as their question was answered. I found this to be odd. Why not just come out with the question? Why write a message and post it with the email? I replied to the question by saying just ask your question. Anyone ever had this situation? I looked up the buyer on eBay but that doesn’t really help. Do people get their accounts hacked?

Mentor3 years agoThis is a scammer. The reason he attached a photo of his phone # is because it's against policy to exchange contact information through messaging. He wants you to call so he can attempt to trick you into accepting a fake payment and send the item. Don't respond.
On the message you received, report the buyer from the option found in the dropdown.
On day 5, you'll be able to cancel the transaction using the reason that the buyer didn't pay.
