Scam?
I emailed an owner of a private sale of a motorcycle. Here is her response, which seems like a scam. Am I right?
Hi again ,
Thanks so much for getting back to me.As I told you in my first email after my husband passed, I had to move to my hometown, Grass Valley, California for a new start. Also I'm working sailor on a boat and because I am a regular eBay user I decided to use their services. Before leaving I had pre-arranged the deal with eBay so my presence isn't necessary. The bike is at a shipping company chosen by eBay, sealed with all the papers. You will get a 5 days inspection period before making any purchase, and if you find something wrong with the bike, you can just return it at my expense.
You will have to pay eBay and they won't give me any money until you receive and test the vehicle for 5 days. The deal includes free delivery(because i use their cards for free shipping) and it will arrive at your address with all the necessary documents for registration. In addition during that 5 days testing period I will not be getting any money.Basically eBay holds your money safe until you confirm that this bike is what you have been expected and you want to buy it. It is not a sight unseen deal.On the other hand I can ship my bike knowing eBay has your money and you won't "disappear" with my bike. We are both covered.
SO...Only after you receive the bike and agree to keep it, eBay will release the payment to me, in this way we are both protected and you can physically see and test the bike before committing to buy and to eliminate any concerns. When receiving it you will have as well all the documents including title, sale bill , 2 sets of keys, full service records and more...The title and the bill of sale will be notarized and signed by me.
If you are serious about purchasing my bike, please reply with your full name, shipping address and your phone#.So I can notify eBay that you are selected as my possible buyer, and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.
Thank you
