Scam
I have an item that was “sold†but I was never paid. Sent an invoice, etc to the buyer but it turns out it was a scam.
i am trying to close my eBay account but they say i owe them $ for a sale that never happened.
Of course, I can’t talk to a human so how do i get them to delete my account and not pay them for something I didn’t sell?

If the buyer never paid, you should not owe Ebay any fees unless you used an optional listing upgrade.
You sold an item on Jul. 25th. Is that the transaction you referred to? Did you cancel the transaction after 4 days of non-payment stating "buyer didn't pay"?

OP2 years agoI didn’t know I had to do that plus I chatted with a eBay person and told them about the scam and they were looking into it but never got back to me.
I had another item that the same thing happened but they never followed through but the same thing where they are asking me to email them privately, etc

Never respond to someone that wants you to contact them privately to "arrange payment" and never give a "buyer" your email or Paypal info.
ALWAYS cancel the transaction after 4 days of non-payment have passed, specify "buyer didn't pay".

OP2 years agoFigured that out the hard way but didn’t give any personal information.
It won’t let me cancel the transaction because it is past 4 days

Mentor2 years agoYou have to wait for the 4 days to pass and THEN you can file cancel the transaction starting on day 5.
