Scam?

Question

I got a notification from apparently and email saying an item sold minutes after listing it. Message said follow a strange link to verify payout info. I had already done that when setting up my account. Clucking on the "buyer" gives an error "No longer a registered user". None of my items show sold. Am I correct assuming this is a scammer?

If eBay sends you a message, it will be addressed to you by full name, and will not come from a random username with a number in it; it will come from eBay and will appear in your messages under "From eBay". eBay will never ask you to copy and paste something into your browser address bar -- that is something scammers often do, though.

Yes, it is a scammer. Just ignore the message. It is very rare to have a sale minutes from when you list the item.
