Why are there so many scammers on Ebay?

Mentor2 years agoAre there a lot of scammers, or a few very persistent scammers that use the same techniques over and over?
Scammers go wherever money is changing hands, hoping to be able to take advantage of someone for their own gain.
You are a new seller with no feedback selling very expensive items using "Best offer". Your listings will attract every scammer out there, because you present an inviting target. Scammers will try to get you to respond with contact information outside of eBay so that the scammer can send a phony payment notice, or else try to entice you into purchasing a gift card for the scammer.
You will present less of a target when you have gained some feedback, or if you list your items for fixed prices with immediate payment required and avoid offers and auctions.
