sales taxes collected by ebay
hello ,
since ebay won't let us speak to anyone except a robot online, my question here is where can i find how much sales tax ebay collected from our sales for 2024. when they send us the 1099 the add in sales tax collected. i need to calculate how much ,so i can use it as a deduction from the gross sales. thank you. my user name is tobaccoboy.

Mentor1 year ago@tobaccoboy. Sales tax is not included in your 1099K.
You never received those funds to your checking account, they were taken by ebay and sent to the buyer's state so they are not part of your gross income.
You just need to subtract your expenses from the gross.

OP1 year agoi am not sure about that. they subtract fees from the total amount on every order including sales tax. i believe they are included in my gross sales on my 1099. i have an accounting degree, i know to subtract expenses from my gross sales. i have been on ebay 28 years. my question is they don't show total sales tax collected. i appeciate you responding . i have a great comic collection!

The sales tax that the buyer is charged and the buyer pays to Ebay is not included in your 1099K. Ebay collected the sales tax and forwarded it to the buyer's state, so therefore is not part of your income.
