Sales tax selling to florida
Hi
i live in Oregon and sold an item to someone in Florida and EBay collected a sales tax. Oregon doesn’t have a sales tax and when I reviewed EBay’s list of States with required sales Tax Florida wasn’t on it except for when environmental items like lead batteries. My item is artwork. Anyone know why EBay collected the tax? Thank you

Mentor2 years agoSales tax is based on where the item is shipping to. Florida has a sales tax. They started collecting sales tax on online purchases beginning July 1, 2021. ebay collects the sales tax and sends it to the buyer's state revenue department.
