Thanks for your reply. Items in question do not have shipping charges. Just got off the phone with a person representing eBay and was told that the sales tax was a combination of the sellers and buyers location. Needless to say, I will need to review the sales tax statutes for the state of Missouri.

@snickjack
*sigh* You were given inaccurate information by the eBay rep.
Tax is based ONLY on the address the item is shipped to. Seller’s address has no bearing on the tax.
@snickjack Are you using the Plus Four numbers on your zip code? That's important to make sure you are charged the correct local sales tax. You can do a zip code look up on USPS site to find the plus four numbers to add to your account if needed.

Thanks for your reply. Just got off the phone with an eBay rep and was told the sales tax was computed using the sellers and buyers location. Seems strange to me but that is what I was told.

To be completely accurate … NEITHER the buyer’s nor seller’s address … NOR the location of the item … affects the tax.
It is ONLY the address on the package that matters … which can be different from the buyer, seller, and item locations.

Mentor2 years agoHi @snickjack
Be sure to always include your 9-digit ZIP Code with your ‘Ship to’ address. Otherwise you will be charged the highest tax rate for the ZIP Code.
The tax we are charged includes state, county. and city taxes.

OP2 years agoThanks for your reply however, I am talking about sales tax charges exceeding my 9-digit zip code rate.
