Sales tax on nontaxable items
I recently purchased a food item on ebay. I noticed that despite the fact that this item is exempt from sales tax in Maryland, tax was charged. Does ebay have a way of requesting a refund of tax on inappropriately taxed items? If not, what happens to this tax money - does the seller keep it because it doesn't have to go to the state?
