Sales tax fee as a seller does not compute
Hi All
I'm looking for some help trying to figure out how ebay came up with the sales tax amount on (2) items I recently sold. I have already look on the seller fee page to see how they charge sales tax and nothing stands out that comes close to what they charged.
ebay fee page: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822
Massachusetts sales tax 6.25%
Ohio sales tax 5.75$
Florida sales tax 6%
Item 1 was shipped out from Massachusetts to Florida. My math say tax should be $5.70
Item 2 was shipped out from Massachusetts to Ohio. My math says tax should be $2.01

Mentor2 years agoJust to add - you won’t find the sales tax rates on the seller fee page. You would have to go to the website for the dept of revenue for that state to find the local tax rates. You also need to determine if the shipping is taxable.
The real question is why are you trying to validate the sales tax charged to the buyer? I would assume that eBay has a sizable group of tax folks who interpret the tax tables.

My own city has 5 different sales tax areas so where an item is sent can make a difference.
