Sales tax collected on food
Sales tax collected on food item. I am in PA and there is no sales tax on food including protein shakes. My recent purchases of protein shakes sales tax was charged.
Why?
How do I request a refund on the collected tax?

Mentor1 month agoWere the protein shakes listed in a FOOD category? If not, then ebay would charge sales tax.

Mentor1 month agoIf you are due a refund, the refund would come from the state since that is where tax money goes. But protein shakes look like they may be taxable in PA depending on where you buy them from.
Are food and beverages sold from places other than a caterer or establishment selling ready-to-eat food taxable?
