sales tax
Why does ebay charge city sales tax even though I don't live in the city. It is very unlikely that the city will receive the sales tax when I don't live there. Does ebay pocket this extra tax that is illegally collected?

OP2 months agoAnother path of research said there is a connection between the plus 4 digits and the tax application. I am not sure what the real answer is. I found a site for Arkansas that provides the correct tax assesment when you enter your zip and plus 4 digits. No deinitive information on how Arkansas determines this.

OP2 months agoI researched your answer and found there is no relationship between the plus 4 code and the sales tax assesment. I do use the plus 4 code as part of my zip and am still being assesed city sales tax. I checked with the state and they advised I am not required to pay the city portion of the sales tax.

Mentor2 months agoIf you live in a rural area (unincorporated), as I do, you need to use the zip code + 4 for your shipping address in order to have the correct sales tax assessed when making purchases, not just on Ebay.
