sales tax
I was charged $1.44 sales tax on a $10.00 item, and only charged $1.38 sales tax on a $12.00 item. I have been unable to get an answer a to why? Thank you for your insight.

If you live in a state that taxes shipping cost along with the item price ... which most states do ... then you have to include any postage you paid in the total amount that is to be taxed.
I'm guessing that your $10 item included shipping which you didn't account for in the total you paid.

Mentor1 year agoThere could be a few reasons. Are you including the shipping price into your prices? Many states the taxes apply to the shipping cost as well. States also can have different tax percents on different types of items so what state and where the items different items?
