I was curious as to why sellers add in the shipping charges when calculating sales tax?

·3 years agoSellers don't calculate the sales tax, eBay does in accordance with the laws and regulations of the state the item is being shipped to. Most states with sales tax include the s/h fee paid to the seller in the "price" of the item, either in general or in certain circumstances (which circumstances usually apply in eBay transactions, e.g. that the fee can include a "handling" charge).

Mentor3 years agoSellers don't calculate sales tax, eBay collects the sales tax on behalf of the states according to their sales tax laws. Most states assess sales tax on shipping.
