Sales Tax
Ebay is illegally charging sales tax on Wisconsin purchases that are tax exempt. How can I bring that to Ebay's attention? Wisconsin exempts sales tax on bullion including coins that contain at least35% of precious metals.
Ebay illegally charges sales tax for these purchases. There is no response from them and the seller said he cannot change their billing system.

·2 years agoThe ebay system automatically calculates the tax depending on which category the seller lists the item in. It sounds like the seller is listing in the wrong category.

OP2 years agoSounds good if Ebay never made a mistake. The seller clarified this as a silver coin . This is exempt under Wisconsin sales tax. The seller said he could not do anything else. This is a new change in sales tax and I believe Ebay has not brought its records up to date. There does not seem to be a way to bring this to Ebay's attention. Their automated system does not seem to recognize anything from the buyer or possibly from the seller.

There is nothing to bring to eBay’s attention.
If one doesn’t want to pay those taxes, then they must be vigilant and not choose items listed in a Collectables category.
If you find something listed in the proper catering that you were erroneously charged taxes, contact your local tax authority.
One person telling eBay of an error does nothing. If you can prove to that tax authority that eBay is making an error, they will force eBay to change their programming.
