what happens when eBay doesn't charge a customer sales tax? this was for New York address.

Mentor2 years agoebay charges the buyer the sales tax rate for the state the package is going to. If no sales tax is charged, then the seller probably has a sales tax exemption filed with ebay.

OP2 years agonever knew you could be free from paying a sales tax. how does one do that? you dont have to answer. I will look it up. thank you for your help.

Mentor2 years agoYou need to apply to your state for a resellers permit. It might be called different names in different states. You will need 2 accounts on ebay if you plan on purchasing items for resale, as well as purchasing items for personal use.
