I responded to someone about purchasing an rv on Facebook, they responded by asking me to buying a thousand dollars worth of ebay cards to purchase it! Is that a normalcy?

It is NOT normalcy. You are in the midst of having your money stolen by a scammer if you purchase gift cards and send the codes.
eBay has nothing to do with items listed on other websites. It’s all a very common scam someone posts about daily here.
