Rigid return policy timeliness rules
I initiated a return for a remote control that I purchased, but was not able to test whether the issue is a faulty IR sensor on my equipment (an A/C unit). If the seller agrees then why can't we put the return on pause (or something similar) until I purchase/test a new IR sensor because if the new sensor works with the remote then I would cancel the return and gladly keep the remote control? Before purchase, I was unaware there would be any issue with my A/C unit and a remote control as my original remote was lost.

Mentor4 months ago@eteocles I am sorry but the eBay Money Back Guarantee is only 30 days from the date of delivery. An eBay agent can not extend this or they'd have to do it for everyone.
A seller can choose to accept a return for longer if they wish to do so however eBay will NOT be able to force the seller to issue a refund even if you return the item.

OP4 months agoThank you comics-scifi-collectibles for responding so quickly.
That is good news because it will very likely take me less than 30 day from receipt of the remote control to buy and test a new IR sensor. I did send a message to the seller explaining that I would cancel the return if I am able to confirm that the reason the remote control does not work on my A/C unit is the unit's IR sensor. I requested that he agree to hold off issuing his refund until I can do that.
What else should I be doing in order to assure I will not default on any ebay timeliness requirements (besides purchasing a new IR sensor and getting it tested before the 30-day time period elapses)?
Thanks again...

Mentor4 months agoOnce you file the Return Request, you must take action within 21 days from the day you file the return request or else Ebay will close the request due to inactivity. There is no 'putting the return on pause'.
