Returns or partial refund
The seller has offered to give me a 50% refund of $153.54 or $76.77 if I keep the damaged item and forgo the return. How do I proceed?

Do NOT close the return claim until you see the offered refund back on your account, period. If you close a claim that is in progress you CANNOT open another one and the Seller does not have to refund you anything. You would be forced to file a payment dispute with your funding source, PayPal, credit card, etc.
You only have 30 days from the date of receipt to file a return claim through eBay and have protection from the Money Back Guarantee: : eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
Sending a partial refund takes less than 2 minutes and that's taking a couple sips of coffee while processing it.
If the Seller starts stringing you out just start the claim and ignore their pleas to close it so they can refund you ...
