No returns really just means that you don't want the item back. It doesn't mean that you don't have to refund if a buyer claims not as described. Returns happen. Accept the return and if you don't want the item back, just refund. You will get your seller fees refunded this way and you will not get a defect on your account.
I have free returns, so when I return is initiated, it is automatically accepted and a shipping label is sent to the buyer, all without me doing anything. I only get 2-3 per year, so it is no big deal.

If the buyer claimed the item was ‘not as described’ in some way … then the buyer will be able to ask eBay to step in after 3 business days.
eBay will refund the buyer with your money and let them keep your item. You also will receive a defect and forfeit your fees.
I recommend you reconsider your nonapproval IF the buyer claimed the item was ‘not as described’ in any way.
