Returning purchase to China vendor
I am in the process of returning an order to China.
I contacted the seller for a pre-paid label, BUT he wants to send me money to my PayPal account, and I would rather not give that information.
I need an eBay pre-paid label to send the item back to China, addressed to this vendor, but so far, I haven't been able to access eBay Support to request a label from them.
Any ideas? I've been clicking links all over eBay, and so far, I see no way to access anyone to give me a label.

Mentor11 months ago@chorro-half Sending money to your PayPal account is the ONLY way a seller in another country is able to provide the money to pay return shipping. It is a good sign that they are an honest seller since they are offering this. Make sure they give you enough money to ship the item using Priority Mail or you will not have proof of delivery to China. You can check the shipping price on Pirateship.com which will be much less than at the post office.
These instructions are on the long side as I tried to cover all of the details of this type of return.
The seller will not be able to provide a valid return label since they are located in another country. If the seller shipped from the US they are not allowed to require a return to another country even for buyers remorse returns. Sellers are required to pay return shipping for not as described items no matter where they are located.
Select the return item button on this page:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/return-item-refund?id=4041&st=
The reason could be "Item is defective", "Arrived damaged", "Missing Parts" OR "Doesn't Match photos and description" if the item you got was not what was shown and described.
Ask eBay to Step In from the case after 4 business days if the seller has not refunded or sent the money to your PayPal account to pay return shipping> https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-step-help-buyers?id=4701&st=
The seller then has the choice of sending you the money to pay return shipping to your PayPal account OR refunding you without a return of the item.
Do NOT pay return shipping yourself and expect to be refunded for it after the item is returned even if an agent says to do this as eBay can not force a refund from the seller for more than the original sale price.
eBay may place the case on hold for 5 days if the seller chooses the PayPal option.
99% of the time a seller in another country will refund without a return of the item once you involve customer service.
Here's how to contact eBay general customer service if needed:
eBay agents are working from home so you have to request a call back or live chat.
1. CLICK THIS LINK:

2. Request a call back
3. Or you can also contact customer service by sending a PRIVATE message on social media. Customer service verifies your identity before responding.

Returns to countries NOT on this list must ship via Priority Mail or you will not have tracking proof of delivery.>

If you do have to buy a return label with the funds the seller provided then you must enter the tracking number into the return request so you will have proof of the return.
Adding tracking to your return
Adding tracking details to your return helps protect against delays or issues in the refund process. If you use an eBay returns label, tracking details are automatically uploaded.
Here's how to add the tracking information to your return if you're using your own return shipping label:
Go to the return request in Purchase History.
Select the shipping carrier from the dropdown list. If you select Other, enter the carrier name.
Enter the tracking number.
Select Mark as sent.

OP11 months agoHello, thank you for your input on my issue.
When communicating with the vendor, I have tried many times to enter my email address, which is my login username in PayPal, so that the vendor can deposit the shipping money.
Still, the eBay system will not allow me to send the message or mention PayPal, and it cancels my request to SEND the message.
Do you know any workaround to send my email address in the eBay messaging system?

Mentor11 months ago@chorro-half You should be able to share contact information after a recent sale, usually up to 90 days from the date of the sale.
Here's how to contact eBay customer service and see what they recommend... ( don't pay return shipping yourself and expect to be refunded as it's not possible for eBay to force a refund for more than the sale amount even if an agent suggests it)

The seller in China cannot provide a return shipping label that is usable in this country. The seller has to send you the funds for the return shipping costs. That can safely be done through Paypal.
If the seller does not send you the funds, you can go back to your return request and click on the link to have Ebay step in to help you.
