Returning an item that I haven't received yet

I purchased in item and saw an arrival date for the 22 but it didn't register in my mind that it said next month and not this one. I wanted to cancel the order but it seemed the my only option was to return it to I clicked that option. The email I received said my return was accepted but I must send the item by may 8th but I won't receive it until May 22. Honey you made a mistake there's no fixing on eBay. You chose to return it before you received it. That makes no sense. eBay gave you a return deadline you can't meet unless by some miracle it's received early.

You'll have to wait and see if you will be able to send it back. Otherwise you can resell it after you get it if you no longer want it.

You can't reopen a closed case.

You should not have filed a returns request because you have nothing to return. I would suggest calling ebay and see if they can change that to an Item Not Received case instead of a returns request.
