Returning an item
Hi, I have a quick question. Is a seller allowed to send a return shipping label that is outside of eBay? The seller mentioned their return address has changed and instructed me not to use the original eBay label. They provided a different label instead, but it’s not one that eBay can track. I just want to make sure my return and refund will still be protected.

As already stated, use the return shipping label provided by Ebay.

Yes, that is a concern.
I had a return recently, where the seller provided a label, but I went through the return options and used the eBay provided label instead. But they were fine with this.
In years past I never worried about it, but in these days, its best to use the return options provided through eBay.
If the seller is specifically requesting this option, then even more reason to not use it.
I would suggest the seller update their return address asap so they don't have issues in the future, but that you have to abide by the MBG return options for your protection.

OP1 year agoWhat if the seller purchased a new shipping label and did not update the return information through eBay? If their address isn’t up to date, they may not receive the returned item. I’m in a stressful situation all around. I don’t know why the seller did not update their address prior to the return label.

Well, to be blunt. That is their problem in this case.
Why should you be at risk of not getting a refund because your item never shows as shipped, let alone received by the seller?
True, things may be fine if you just do as the seller asks, but there is nothing to guarantee it.
I understand your feelings and maybe the seller is just in a spot where they made an honest mistake, but at the same time, you have to protect your interests.
Ultimately its up to you.
