Returning a defective item.
I received a defective USB adapter and requested a refund. The seller sent a return label and I promptly sent it back, but not until I sent the item back did I notice that label was NOT IN MY NAME and was NOT ADDRESSED TO THE SELLER! Now the seller is saying they will not refund my money until they get the item back. The seller knowingly sent a fake label so who knows where the item is now - Nevada I think. The seller's ad says NY, but the return label was for somewhere in Las Vegas. I can't figure out how to contact Ebay directly about this clever and intentional fraud.
I'm afraid Ebay will close my return saying the seller never received the item and giving me no opportunity to explain. I have a copy of the fake label, but don't know where to send it to. How do I talk to Ebay? Any suggestions? Thnx

Did you file a RETURN request and did the seller respond to your request with providing the return shipping label? If so, you should be refunded when tracking indicates the item was delivered to the seller's return shipping address on the Ebay return label.
Some sellers have a different return shipping address than the address where the item was shipped from. It doesn't mean the label was fake.

OP2 years agoA different rtn addr I could understand , but the return label didn't even have MY name on it - someone else entirely.

Mentor2 years agoIf the seller provided the label through eBay, when the tracking shows delivery the seller will have three business days to refund you, no matter where it was delivered. Otherwise, you should be able to ask eBay to step in and refund you.
If the item is determined to be undeliverable, you should still be able to ask eBay to step in and refund you, since the seller provided the address used.
