Return without accepting a return
Summary: hicottn purchased an item advertised as copper on eBay, but it arrived as copper-plated steel. Their eBay app did not display any product description, which led to the misunderstanding. The seller is requesting a return at the buyer's expense, without agreeing to refund. disneyshopper advised filing a return request for 'Item Not as Described', which obliges the seller to accept the return and cover shipping, or to refund without a return. If the seller doesn't cooperate, they suggested asking eBay to intervene after four days.
I bought an item. The title said it is copper. The ebay app showed and shows no description. It arrived and is copper plated steel. I filed a return. Turns out there was a description stating it is steel but the app displays only "Description" when I click on Description. So I could not read the description. I sent the seller a photo of the eBay app on my phone showing the word "Description" and a blank screen after it. The seller wants me to return the item at my own expense without him accepting the return. What if he does not refund me after I ship it back? How to handle this?

Mentor4 days agoI would not do as the seller requested. Instead, I would file a returns request for Item Not as Described. The seller will have to accept the return and pay for a return shipping label, or refund in full and not provide a return shipping label. If the seller does neither, on day 4, you go back to the case and click Ask ebay to step in, to force the refund.
