Return while the seller is away
Hello everyone,
I've been selling on eBay for a while now and fortunately haven't had to deal with many returns, so I’m not very experienced with how these situations typically unfold.
A buyer purchased a brand-new dress from me in April. I do accept returns, and just two days before the return window closed in May, the buyer requested a return, stating that the dress “doesn’t fit.†While it’s frustrating to receive a return request after the item has been kept for nearly 30 days, I understand and respect eBay’s return policy.
The return case was opened over a week ago, but the item has not yet been shipped back. eBay shows a deadline of June 16 for the buyer to return it. The challenge I’m facing is that I will be overseas starting June 25th for a month, and if the item arrives during that time, there will be no one available to inspect the return before issuing a refund.
I’m concerned that eBay may automatically issue a refund without giving me the opportunity to verify the item’s condition. What if it was worn during that time? Are there any seller protections in place in such situations?
Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help!
