If you mean you did not stand in line at the Post Office and get an Acceptance scan by the clerk then that was a mistake BUT, it might pick up a scan later int eh shipping process at a bulk center. Their systems automatically upload tracking info as they scan tracking numbers on labels.
You can also file a Missing Mail piece which can often shake loose tracking information.
