return shipping
Customer ordered an item. It was not received within the expected time so he then said he didn't want the item. Item has now arrived at his address. He has not opened it and wants to return it. However, when asked by eBay why he wanted to return it he checked "item not as described." I understand that if the item was not as described I would have to pay to get it back. Since he is returning it because he no longer wants it because it was late, who pays return shipping?
Since it has not been opened, why can't he simply mark RETURN TO SENDER and give it to the carrier. He is refusing to do that and insists I pay to get it back. What are my options?

·2 years agoHi @terracelane-treasures Your buyer is right not to do that. If the buyer marks Return to Sender (refuses the package), then his purchase is no longer eligible for eBay's Money Back Guarantee.
If the package was delivered after the latest estimated delivery date, the buyer can request a return for refund for Item Not As Described. You're responsible for the return shipping cost.
See "The item arrived after the latest estimated delivery date" in the return policy's list of exclusions and special coverage:
