Return Requests
Summary: kbr81911 expressed frustration about eBay allowing return requests for trivial reasons, such as not liking an item. They mentioned an instance involving a replacement bulb and noted confusion over return policies. comics-scifi-collectibles explained that the return acceptance depends on the seller’s policy, and that free returns allow buyers to return items for any reason. kbr81911 acknowledged the explanation, realizing there might be a need to adjust their settings.
Ive had a couple return requests that really made no sense to me as to why eBay let the return go through. The last one was for a replacement bulb for a specific type of light. The return reason was "I just didnt like it". To me, if you purchase an item like this, you should know what you are purchasing. Either it is the correct part, or it is not. IMO people should be sure they are ordering the correct part. If its not, then, sorry, thats your fault. Ive done it myself and I just kept it and re-ordered.
I thought there had to be a good reason for a return. I just told the person to keep the part and I refunded them. Id get it back and throw it away since I already lost money on it and there would be no reason to try to sell it again.
I just wonder if AI is making the decision. Between the cost of shipping and these bogus return requests, I may as well not waste my time.

Mentor3 weeks ago@kbr81911 Since that is a remorse return reason it depends on your return policy on the listing. It appears that you do offer Free Returns. That means a buyer can return the item for any reason. The system will automatically accept the return because that is what the listing says.
While you do have to pay the return shipping cost you can withhold the outbound shipping IF it was charged separately and not free shipping.

Mentor3 weeks ago@kbr81911 I recommend at least offering 30 day BUYER pays returns. Otherwise buyers will lie and say an item is not as described so they can return it. eBay would require you to pay return shipping and refund 100%.
If you charge outbound shipping then you only have to refund the item price for buyer remorse returns when you have 30 day buyer pays returns.
