Return request on counterfeit NVME drive
Hi everyone -
This is probably a stupid question but in the years I've been using eBay I've never had to return something. Here's the story: I purchased a 4TB NVME drive from a seller in October and received the drive in November. I'm rebuilding a PC so I wasn't able to test it for 5-6 weeks, but when I did I discovered that the drive is counterfeit.
Basically it lists its capacity as 4TB in the OS, but in practice anything copied to it over ~500GB immediately overwrites what was there previously. I think this is typical for a counterfeit drive.
I requested a refund from the seller. They responded with some non-sensical questions (i.e. what's your "computer model" and "system version"). I replied, explained the situation immediately. One day later the return was just listed as rejected and closed. There is no way I can find to appeal to eBay, it just says "This case is closed. The decision is final and can't be appealed."
I always thought there was a way to escalate this sort of thing - especially in the case of what looks like fraud. I can't get an agent on chat, the AI thing just tells me the decision is final. I can appeal through paypal I guess, but is there something else I'm missing? Thanks!
(PS Yes I know an NVME is a dumb thing to buy on eBay - lesson learned there..)

You waited too long to open the item and check to make sure it was what was listed for sale. You were only covered by the eBay MBG for 30 days from receipt.
: eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
You will have to pursue a dispute with your funding source, PayPal, credit card, etc.
