Hello,
A buyer has requested a return shortly after purchase. I attempted to cancel the order, but the system is showing that the shipping fee will be deducted from my funds.
The shipping label was purchased through eBay, but it has not been used, scanned, or dropped off.
Could you please clarify why the shipping cost is being deducted and assist me in ensuring the label is voided properly so I am not charged for unused postage?

Once a shipping label is purchased eBay considers the item shipped and the order can not be canceled. If you did not ship the item and want to cancel for the buyer you will have to cancel the shipping label then cancel the purchase.
Go to your shipping labels page and find the unused label. In the drop down actions menu is the option to void the label. You have 28 days to void USPS, UPS, and FedEx labels. eBay Standard Envelope labels are non-voidable once they have been printed. If it was a USPS label it will take up to 21 days for them to verify it was not used and send your refund. More details on the page below.

Once the label is canceled the item will revert back to unshipped. You can cancel it and refund the buyer. Make sure to use buyer requested as the reason for cancelling. You will not receive a defect on your account.

OP6 months agoHi, I requested to void the shipping label on February 25, and it still shows as “cancellation requested.” The chat assistant says the label has already been canceled, so I’m confused about the status. Has anyone experienced this before, and how long did it take for the shipping label refund to appear?
