Return request
On June 24 I requested a return through eBay and they granted it. I sent the item back by FedEx with a label that eBay provided but I filled out a form and accidentally put that I had sent it back by USPS. I don’t know if that caused a problem or not because wouldn’t eBay have gotten notification that the package was received when it was delivered regardless of who it was delivered by? Anyway, the package was delivered and I haven’t heard anything from eBay as to the status of the refund. When will I expect to hear about that? It has only been two or three days. I’ve never done this before, so I really don’t know what to expect. Thank you.

OP3 years agoIt was delivered on the third. The fourth was the holiday, today is the 5th and they said it needed to be received and ended by the 7th in the original correspondence. Would it be too early for me to do that tonight? Or tomorrow? I don’t want to risk waiting too long. Thank you for your input.

Mentor3 years agoYes, you will have to wait. Go to the Return Request in the Resolution Center, the option to Ask Ebay to Step In will appear when available.

OP3 years agoToday is day four and I have not received a refund, but it clearly shows where they (EBay) are aware that it was delivered and the little graph has inched toward refund. They also clearly stated that it all needs to be wrapped up by tomorrow. Why on earth do they drag the stuff out to the last minute? They know it makes you sick with worry. If I click for them to step that does that not take me back to the beginning stages? On my end, it shows that you can do that on June 24 which is when I began this whole process. I just don’t want to press something I’m not supposed to. Please bear with me. I am just so worried about this, it’s my mom’s money. I am trying to recoup as I bought this for her. She’s been very understanding, but I felt very guilty.

Mentor3 years agoEbay just gives the seller time to inspect the return and to provide a refund on their own. If no refund by tomorrow have ebay step in, they will refund and put a strike on the seller's account for not taking care of this for you.

OP3 years agoI just went to check the return request a few minutes ago, and it had changed since I looked last. It said that the seller is inspecting the merchandise and should be issuing a refund soon and that they have closed the case. Why would they have closed the case? I have not received the refund and it has not been over the time. I am so distraught over all of this I don’t know what to do. And I see no where where they give me the option for them to step in.

Mentor3 years agoEbay would not have closed the case unless the seller issued a refund, so that message may be coming soon.
Why was the item returned?

OP3 years agoBecause it was nothing, it was advertised to be. It was supposed to be new in box. It was used, not just used, but used a lot. Scratched, scuffed, without the supposed charger that came with it instead given a broken charger. It was supposed to be Verizon compatible when it was not. The list goes on. I really tried everything to work with the person but when it came down to it was not Verizon compatible, I could not.

Mentor3 years agoAs long as you used the ebay label you should be fine. But if no refund by the fourth day after tracking shows the item returned, go back to the Return Request and ask ebay to step in. Do not close or let the case expire without doing this.
