Return request
I have been dealing with a difficult buyer. He requested additional photos prior to submitting an offer on an item I was selling. I sent him photos via eBay and he submitted an offer that was accepted. He then requested shipping decrease, which I did. He received the item and states it is not as described. He requested $30 price adjustment off the $40 item. I offered him a full refund plus shipping if he started a return and sent the item back. I had to reinforce with him twice that I would only offer him a refund+shipping with return of the item. He then claims the original box was damaged beyond use. He has now started a return request, but is stating that I must send him an empty box with packing material and a return label inside. Help! Is this something I need to do?

OP2 years agoNow he is claiming he does not have printing capabilities…do I continue no contact? And he needs to do his part after receiving the label? What now?

Mentor2 years agoHi @msbahnsen You may have already resolved this, but many buyers do not have printers. You can send them a QR Code instead of a label. All they have to do is take the QR code on their phone to the post office and the post office will print out a return shipping label for them.
Return shipping labels are not really paid for until used. So by all means send this wannabe scammer a QR code and let him figure out the rest himself. He sounds like he knows his way around. Good luck!

NO. You aren't required to provide a box.
Just provide a prepaid shipping label for the return ... assuming that the buyer claimed the item was 'not as described' when they filed the return request.
