Return request
Why would a seller ask you to close a return report when they are replacing a defective part but have not done so yet?

Why? Sadly, because they are preparing to scam you. No legitimate seller would instruct you to give up your buyer protection.
Starting on day four after opening the case, you can go back to the case and ask eBay to step in. The seller has no intention of sending a replacement.
After you've done that, you can report the seller's behavior here:

Before you buy an item on eBay, be sure to review the seller's feedback to see what others are saying. Be extra careful if you choose to buy from sellers located in China (the country of registration is shown below the seller's ID on his feedback page). That's where most of these scams originate.

Mentor2 years agoDO NOT close a case until you have received your item. Once you close the case, the seller has no incentive to do what they have promised.
