Return Reasons and How it Hurts Seller
So I don't get many returns but have gotten 2 returns in last week where buyer selected "Doesn't match description or photos". When clearly they did not read or look at the pictures. Both were for used clothing. I provide measurements and put everything in listing. I offer returns but buyer pays shipping. Are they just using this so they don't have to pay for return shipping? And how does this negatively effect my seller status? Is this considered an INAD? My return Rate is 1.15%. I can't find great info on how it effects your status. Am I worrying about this to much? Appreciate any clarification.

Sadly, eBay's Seller metrics are very subjective considering eBay created a situation where Buyers have to be dishonest to avoid paying for a return, whether the return is justified or not. And yes, that return is considered an INAD and it counts against you in your seller metrics in most cases.
If a Buyer files a bogus return make sure you use the Report Buyer link on the transaction and report them for abusing the return system or filing a false claim.
While I have a low return rate I offer 30 day free returns and take advantage of the Seller Protections eBay provides ... while they may not always apply it is nice to know they are there when needed: Seller protections | eBay
I see you have a mix of return polices: No returns accepted and Accepted but Buyer pays. The No returns policy really only applies to Remorse type reasons for a return. Trying to fight other return reasons with the No returns policy and eBay will side with the Buyer, refund them from your account and let them keep the item ... not to mention you get a defect and do not get your FVFs back from eBay.

OP1 year agoThanks for the feedback. I will have to do an overhaul of my items and look at what is out there. I have some older listings that could probably update or get rid of. I sell in may different categories and some I don't allow for returns. The information and links provided are helpful.

It should not affect your status if you accept the return and refund the buyer. When it gets dicey is when you try to fight the claim. eBay usually says they don't take sides in this argument, so they default to the buyer is right.
Your return in clothing isn't horrible.
You can check your service metrics to see how you measure up to other sellers.
Service Metrics - eBay Seller Hub
Some sellers find success with offering free return shipping and that would eliminate the need for the buyer to open a NAD to get free returns. I can't say if that really helps.

OP1 year agoThanks for the feedback. Appreciate the Metrics piece. I have never looked at this one before. This definitely helps. I figured my return rate wasn't high but just looking to get some clarity. Typically the returns I do get are for "Doesn't Fit", cause those buyers read correctly. So many different things to look at.
Not sure I want to do free returns. But can make sense in some cases based on metrics. I just list, sell, ship and repeat. Try to feed the algorithm.
Definitely won't try to fight it.

Yes this would be an INAD.
