Return Packaging Costs
I bought a very large microwave. Prior to shipping I wrote one sentence to the seller “Please wrap carefully, it’s a long journey. Thanks.” It arrived terribly wrapped in a ripped box. And no surprise, the door was misaligned with the frame and wouldn’t shut. The seller accepted the return, so I went to FedEx to return this large/heavy $140 microwave, I paid $70 to have it wrapped properly. Who’s responsible for this repackaging cost? Surely it’s not sunk for an innocent buyer. That would be entirely unfair. How can I resolve this?

Mentor4 months ago@aubsal7 You should not have paid out of pocket for returning the microwave. You just needed to use the eBay return shipping label. If the seller wanted it wrapped better than the way they sent it then they had to send you the $ to do so BEFORE you sent it back. eBay can not force the seller to refund more than the original sale amount and the return shipping costs.
Have you filed an eBay return request yet? Did the seller issue a return shipping label?
Sorry your item is not as described.
The eBay Money Back Guarantee over rules the sellers return policy. You have 30 days from the date of delivery to file a not as described return request for most categories AND 3 days for Trading Cards.
Here's what you need to do:
Open a return with the reason arrived damaged.
Select the return item button on this page:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/return-item-refund?id=4041&st=
4 business days after filing the return request if the seller has not provided a return shipping label or a full refund then ask eBay to step in and help: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701
Let me know if you need to return an item to another country as there are additional steps required. The seller pays return shipping for an item that is not as described no matter where they are located.
