Return packaging and return
Is it permissible to return an item without the original packaging? If the item is securely packaged and the seller receives the return undamaged, would that be considered acceptable?

Yes. You should return everything that was listed as part of the ‘item’ … but you don’t need to use the same shipping container or box to return it.
