Return on item due to purchased by mistake

Hi,

I have a buyer that is returning an item they said they purchased by mistake. They have had the item in their possession for 28 days. Ebay gave them an automatic refund approval. It was my understanding that they can only return if item is not as described. Do I have to accept the return?

You have your items set up with 30 day returns. When you accept returns, you accept all returns, no matter the reason. So yes, you must accept the return, which is why eBay accepted the return for you.

Since the reason was purchased by mistake, the buyer will pay the return shipping, and you do not have to refund the original shipping.

If you want to only accept not as described returns, then you list with no returns accepted. But then you can expect some buyers to claim not as described when it is not necessarily true.
