Return marked past due – no prepaid return label & cannot ask eBay to step in
I opened a return because the item does not match the description.
The seller accepted the return, but I never received an eBay prepaid return shipping label, so I cannot ship the item.
I tried to contact the seller through eBay messages, but the system keeps showing errors and I’m unable to send messages.
Now the return is marked as past due, and I’m worried the case may be closed unfairly.
I have also tried to contact eBay through an agent, but the system keeps looping and does not allow me to select “Ask eBay to step in.â€
Because of this system issue, I am unable to escalate the case properly even though I have followed all the required steps.

Mentor8 months agoYou are located in Thailand. Where is the seller located? If not in Thailand, the seller cannot send a return label good in your country. S/he will have to send you enough funds via Paypal to purchase return shipping, or refund without requiring the return. If the seller does neither, go back to the returns request and click Ask ebay to step in. If you do not do that, the returns request will eventually close, and you will not be able to reopen it.

OP8 months agoThank you for your explanation.
I am located in Thailand, and the seller is located in China.
According to my return page (see attached screenshot), the return is marked as “past due†and the system says “Seller sent a return shipping label†in the history. However, there is no downloadable or printable eBay prepaid return shipping label shown anywhere on my return page.
The only option available is “Add tracking details,†which requires me to ship the item myself. I cannot do this because this is a seller-fault return (item not matching the description), and the seller is responsible for return shipping.
I have also tried to use “Ask eBay to step in,†but the button does not appear at all on my return page. The system does not allow me to escalate the case.
I am attaching this screenshot to show that there is no prepaid label available and no option to ask eBay to step in, even though the return is now marked as past due.
