Return item to seller that was shipped to me by mistake.

I had already received the item I ordered from the seller. However, I received a notification in my email that I was getting the same item from the same seller. I notified the seller and he told me that it had been shipped to me by mistake. Since I don't need the same item I'm trying to let eBay know that I want to ship it back to the seller since I don't need it. No luck at all trying to locate a link so that I can let them know. The only other way is to cancel the order. Can anyone advise me on how to accomplish this? Thanks.

OP4 months agoThank you. The seller has been very responsive to my concern. I just emailed him essentially the same request that you suggested and I'm now waiting for a reply. I appreciate you taking the time to message me.

You can't request an order cancellation for an item you didn't order. There is also no need to notify eBay. This is something you accomplish with the seller.
Ask the seller to email you a prepaid shipping label so you can return the unordered item to him. (He can do this using a website like Pirate Ship.)
