Return issues
I sold and item, mailed it, it was misdirected and after 3 weeks the buyer requsted a refund, which I granted. 2 days after that the item was received. the buyer said he was going to return the item back to me. Now it's 3 weeks after that, he has stopped responding to my messages. So, bottom line is he has the item and the cash. How do I get E-bay to step up. The automated assistant is no help. Mentor1 year agoUnfortunately there is nothing you can do. Once you refunded eBay closes the purchase and can no longer help you. eBay does not have the legal authority to recover any refund made to a buyer since the user agreement does not allow this for a buyer.
So eBay cannot force a buyer to either return the item or pay you for the item once the refund was made. You can write this off your eBay income when you file your tax return.
