Return Dispute
Summary: tc-big-buys shared their experience of selling a vintage board game with visible box damage, which was clearly described and shown in the listing. Despite packaging the game carefully, the buyer initiated a return, claiming the box was damaged. tc-big-buys offered a 50% discount as a solution, although they believe they are not at fault. jacbarcollectibles advised that if a case is opened for "Item not as described," they must accept the return and issue a full refund, after which they can report the buyer for potential misuse of the money-back guarantee.
I recently sold a vintage Bas-Ket board game that had quite a bit of box damage. I explained the damage in the description. I showed all the box damage clearly in the photos. The game was wrapped in shrink wrap before placing in a box with padding. The buyer has now started a return claiming the box is damaged. The buyer sent a couple of photos showing the exact damage and condition that I pointed out in the listing.
I have offered the buyer a 50% discount even though I don't think I'm in the wrong. If the buyer doesn't accept the refund how can I dispute the return?
Thanks

Mentor1 week agoIf the buyer opened an "Item not as described" case you must accept the return, provide a prepaid return label and make a full refund once the item is returned. You can then report the buyer for misusing the money back guaranty. This will not get you any money back but will internally mark the buyers account to see if they make this a habit.

OP1 week agoThanks...and that's one thing that turns me off about eBay. The seller has no way to defend themselves. The customer is always right, even when they're wrong.
