Return case opened - ebay had the item - closed in buyer's favor
I sold an item for $1300 & sent it to ebay authenticators. Tracking showed that the item was delivered & signed for by the authentication team on Aug 31.
It was in the status of "at authenticator" & on Sept 10th, the buyer opened a claim. On Sept 15 th, the claim was closed in favor of the buyer & a -$1307 was put on my account saying that Ebay would pull funds from my banking account in 3 days. I was able to ask for a call back & actually spoke to a live person. This rep confirmed that the tracking showed that the authentication team signed for the item & had it in their possession so therefore I was covered by Seller protection and that she was reversing the funds & I would see it shortly afterwards as well as she put the appeal in & noted the situation
Meanwhile the -$1307 stayed on my account and as I was selling items, those funds were going towards the -$1307.. I sold over $1k in the last few days that basically covered the -$1307. Still no funds or credited to my account and then tonight, I get an email from the authentication saying that the item has been authenticated and would be shipped to the buyer!!
The buyer already received the refund of $1300+ from my account.
The rep did say that they were going to allow the refund to the buyer stand but because I was protected and the item was there before the claim, she was going to credit my account back the $1307.
So as of now, I am out the card AND the $1307!!!! and there is no one that I can reach out to discuss!
Am I at the mercy that once the appeal is done, I'll get my money back? But I also concerned now that since the "found" the item after 20 days & authenticated, will they just consider this closed?
I've been on ebay for 28 years and I've never had anything like this happen and the inability to reach customer service is absolutely frustrating.
Any help out there in a situation like this?
thanks- Hippiekmt
