Return bad item for refund
I bought a MacBook that costs $350 on eBay from Nigeria. The seller deliberately sent a Remote locked item and he has always been found of sending items in unacceptable condition to me knowing that I am a buyer outside USA, and the cost of returning a purchased item is high. I initiated item return but the seller will not provide an international return label and instead provided a USA FedEx shipping label to my USA shipper. I needed eBay to intervene to this matter but eBay HELP won't allow me access to chat with a customer service agent on this matter. Does it mean that eBay is working in favour of sellers in cases like this, and how do I get my money from this seller which has refused to respond to my messages on the matter. I am unhappy with this treatment moreso the money involved is much. Also I feel vulnerable as a foreign buyer and will be so paranoid with other sellers on eBay if this can happen and a fraudulent seller get away comfortably with it .

The seller is responsible for the return shipping from the location you provided on your purchase. It sounds like you use a freight forwarder - is this correct? If so, you are not covered by the money back guarantee, so eBay cannot help.
For items like computers, you might consider having your purchases delivered directly to you, and buying from sellers that use the eBay international shipping program. This is not going to include Nigeria, which sounds like a questionable purchase anyway.

OP1 year agoMany thanks for your response. Honestly if this is how it works, then I won't be surprised that international buyers will be a target for scammers sellers who are based in the USA. It will take someone who has moral or fear of God not to abuse international buyers by sending rubbish to them and cash out. eBay is known to be an international shopping site and a shopping destination for buyers from all over the world. Majority buyers from outside USA uses a freight forwarding company which are own by Americans i.e myus.com to consolidate and ship their packages for them, a procedure which I believe is an arm of e-commerce. I will recommend that eBay should review their regulation in a way that will facilitate fairness between buyers & sellers; in or outside US to forestall a scenario whereby some dishonest sellers may be taking advantage of certain categories of buyers on eBay due to this loophole.
