Return an item outside of ebay
Summary: A detailed guide on returning an item purchased outside of eBay was discussed. bgswis2012 initiated the conversation, and others provided insights or shared their experiences related to this topic. The focus was on the steps, challenges, and any potential solutions when dealing with returns not directly covered by eBay’s policies.
I bought a hotspot in March but haven't had much use for it and it doesn't work with some of my computers for some reason. Return window is closed. Buyer asked me this week if I want to return it for full refund. I would like to so he gave me his address to mail it to him but that would be done outside of ebay. He says once he receives it he can issue me a refund through ebay. Seller has 158 reviews that are 100% positive. Does this sound ok to do or is it too risky or not recommended?

OP4 months agoThanks for reply. I think what I will do instead is create a listing to sell the item and then ask him to buy it. I will have to pay shipping either if I sell it to him or return it to him but that is only $10 or so.

·4 months agoYou do realize you’ll have to pay selling fees to eBay, right?

OP4 months agoI forgot about that. Maybe just sending it to him is better.

Mentor4 months agoIt is too late for ebay to help, since the ebay Money Back Guarantee expires 30 days after receipt. I checked one of my items that was sold on March 2, and the Send Refund option is still available. If you decide to send the item back, make sure you send it back using USPS Ground Advantage so you have a tracking number.
