Mentor2 years agoHi @ggashi1 You haven't sold in a while and things have changed. Rather than give you the link just to the Returns page, I'm giving you the link to the entire Customer Service pages. Use the search bar across the top to read everything you can about current selling, especially Returns. If you have questions after that, please post back > https://www.ebay.com/help/home
Your listings state your return policy is 30 days returns, Buyer pays for return shipping. That's a good return policy. For any complaint except an Item Not As Described, the buyer will need to pay the return shipping. When a buyer claims the item is not as described, however, the seller must provide a return shipping label. The label is only paid for when used, and sometimes the buyer never gets around to using it, and that's the end of that. If they do send the item back, the seller inspects it to make sure it's in the same condition as when sold and then refunds. If the buyer claims the item is damaged and sends photos, sometimes the seller will refund and tell them not to bother sending the item back.
A seller has four days to resolve a buyer return claim. If the seller does not resolve it within the timeframe, the buyer can ask eBay to step in. You don't want that. If the buyer asks eBay to step in the seller will get an account defect and eBay often refunds the buyer and lets them keep the item. So whether you meant to or not, you handled this like a damaged item or eBay resolved dispute. You'll handle it like a pro next time. Good luck!

Mentor2 years agoOops, sorry, a seller has THREE days to respond, not four. "Once you've opened a return request or reported that an item hasn't arrived, the seller should respond within 3 business days."

The rule is, or if it isn't it should be, that you do not issue the refund until you have the returned item in your hands. What on earth possessed you to refund first and then trust the buyer to return the merchandise sometime later. No other business operates that way, and now you know the reason for that.
