Am I obliged to send an item back if the seller has already refunded me the purchase and shipping price? I got a kit that had multiple damaged parts. I've received the refund before sending the item back so I'm assuming I don't have to return the item and can just discard or keep it? The kit is not resealable as advertised.

I take it that you either contacted the seller or opened a Not As Described dispute and were issued a refund.
If you messaged the seller about the damaged parts and received the refund, they did not want to pay the returns shipping cost, so you can keep the item.
If you opened a dispute and clicked on the Ask ebay to step in button, after 3 days with no reply or return shipping label being sent to you, then ebay refunded you from the seller's account and you do not have to return the item.

OP1 year agoI opened a not as described dispute and was refunded in an hour. I was never actually in direct contact with the seller though.
