Retracting/Cancelling a bid that was clearly placed in error
Placed a bid on an item this morning. Fat fingered the typing and submitted a bid for 10X the max value of the item. Contacted the Seller who has refused to cancel the bid. How can I get this cancelled or retracted?

Mentor7 months agoIf no one else bids, you are fine. You will win it at the current bid. But if someone else bids, your bid will increase, but only incrementally.

Mentor7 months agoThe seller can cancel the bid, they are just not choosing to do it.

OP7 months agoAuction ends in 4d5h. UPDATE: talked to eBay - if the Seller wont cancel the bid, I can attempt to cancel the final sale. If Seller refuses that, eBay will force the return and full refund. They've reviewed everything, including my messages with the Seller, and acknowledge the clear mistake. eBay was quite helpful - we will see how it all turns out on the back end...

Mentor7 months agoSellers like this make it look bad for the rest of us. I'm surprised that you could not retract your bid.

OP7 months agoYeah, the problem is that the Seller knows I have a max bid in that is $3,000 greater than my intended bid and 10X greater than the items value. Serious conflict of interest. They could easily hae someone come in and bid the item way way up

Mentor7 months agoYou might be able to retract your bid. It depends on when the listing ends.

OP7 months agoTried to retract, told me I cant and have to contact Seller. Seller refused, despite the bid CLEARLY being an error.
